The Maria Canals competition is the Dean of the competitions in Spain and the first in the world to be accepted by the World Federation of international music competitions in 1958. Since its inception it has had substantial support from the civil society of Barcelona and Catalonia. Since 1954 he has organized 110 contests of the branches of piano, singing, violin, cello, guitar, flute, percussion and chamber music. Some 7,000 contestants from 100 countries on 5 continents, with the disinterested collaboration of 180 juries from around the world participated.
– the contest is aimed at all young pianists from all countries
– age limit to 1 January 2012: 18 years and 30 years
– the candidates who have taken part in previous contest editions can occur again, unless you have already obtained the first prize in the same branch.
